- In a bowl sieve together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and mix well.
- Now beat butter into the flour mixture.Beat until resembles coarse crumbs.
- In another bowl whisk together eggs, oil, buttermilk, food colour and vanilla extract.
- Add wet mixture into the dry mixture and beat (with electronic beater)until mixture becomes smooth and silky.
- Pour the batter into prepared greased tin,tap it nicely 4-5 times and bake for 30 mins. Or until baked properly, In preheated microwave oven on 180℃.
- After done, let it cool and cut it to make 2 parts from center.
- Place one part on cake board, spread icing cream evenly then put second part of cake on it. Again spread icing cream all over the cake, cover all sides too with cream.
- Keep it in refrigerator to set for about an hour.
- After an hour take it out from refrigerator and apply more icing cream all over the cake and decorate according to your choice.
- Red velvet cake is ready.
The Icing was bland and honestly tasted like flour. Overall the cake was nothing special. However I am willing to try it again just to make sure it was not my own fault.
